Gehl 4625SX Troubleshooting
The Gehl 4625SX skid steer loader is powered by 134.1 cu.in (2.2L) Kubota V2203 4-cylinder direct injection water-cooled diesel engine with a rated power of 45.4 hp (33.8 kW) at 2600 rpm. The Gehl 4625 SX is equipped with 1-speed hydrostatic transmission, radial-lift loader boom, 80H roller chains, and 10.5x15 or 29-12.5x15 tires. The hydraulic system has a pump with fluid flow rate of 18 gpm (68.2 lpm). The hydraulic pressure is 3000 psi (207 bar). The skid steer loader has a rated operating capacity of 1350 lbs (615 kg) and tipping load of 2700 lbs (1230 kg). The max lift height is 114.8 inches (2915 mm) to hinge pin, and dump height is 90.9 inches (2310 mm).

Engine starts up hard or doesn't start
Air in fuel tank - Bleed fuel tank.

Excessive valve clearance - Adjust valve clearance.

Damaged or clogged injectors - Clean or replace fuel injectors.
Fuel injection pump is faulty - Change or repair the pump.
Engine shuts off suddenly while running
Coolant temperature is low - Warm up the engine.
Fuel filter element is dirty - Replace the filter element.
Air in fuel tank - Bleed fuel tank.
Fuel injection nozzles fault - Change fuel injection nozzles.
Improper setting of fuel injection pump timing - Adjust as recommended.
Engine stalls at low idle speed
Low idle speed setting is not correct - Correct the settings.
Fuel injection pump malfunction - Rebuild or change fuel pump.
Fuel injector fault - Clean fuel injectors or change it.
Valve clearance is out of adjustment - Need to adjust valve clearance.
Diesel engine is losing power
Air cleaner is dirty - Clean or replace element.
Fuel injection nozzles are damaged or dirty - Replace injection nozzles.
Insufficient fuel injection pressure - Adjust to proper pressure.
Improper valve clearance - Adjust valve clearance according to specifications.
Incorrectly set low idle speed - Adjust low idle speed.
Dirty fuel lines or hoses - Clean fuel system lines and hoses.
Worn cylinder head gasket - Install new cylinder head gasket.
Piston rings are damaged or leaking - Piston rings replacement required.
Engine overheating
Coolant level is low - Add coolant and check the components of cooling system.
Low engine oil level - Need to add engine oil.
Radiator fins are clogged or radiator cap is faulty - Clean radiator or replace cap.
Loose or defective fan belt - Replace the fan belt.
Diesel engine is overloaded - Reduce load on the engine.
Oil pressure too low
Engine oil level low - Check oil level and add oil as required.
Dirty oil filter - Service or replace engine oil filter.
Wrong oil viscosity - Use correct viscosity oil.
Crankshaft bearing oil clearance is excessive - Bearings need to be reinstalled.
Defective oil pump - Repair or change.
Engine noises or knocks
Insufficient engine oil - Fill up the engine oil.
Engine is not warmed up to required temperature - Warm up the engine.
Fuel injection pump timing is wrong - Adjust according to specifications.
Incorrect low idle speed adjustment - Correct low idle settings.
Fuel injector fault - Clean fuel injectors or change it.
Connecting rod is not aligned or defective - Replace or align connecting rod.
Broken or worn pistons - Replace the pistons as required.

Drive system does not work in either direction

Loss of power

Relief valve is opened or defective - Replace or close relief valve.
Faulty or damaged transmission components - Inspect and replace faulty parts.
Input drive shaft is worn - Service or change faulty drive shaft.
There is air in the hydraulic system - Air bleeding is required.
Drive system is overheated
Low hydraulic fluid level - Check and refill the hydraulic fluid.
Plugged hydraulic fluid filter - Replace hydraulic filter.
Relief valver is broken - Change or repair relief valve.
Drive pump or hydraulic motor is damaged - Inspect and replace as necessary.
Oil cooler is clogged - Cooling fins should be cleaned.
Drive system overload - Reduce drive system load.
Drive system is excessively noisy
Oil viscosity is incorrect - Use oil of correct viscosity.
There is air in the hydraulic system - Bleed air from system.
Drive pump or hydraulic motor malfunction - Change or repair faulty component.
Mechanical components of drive system are worn or damaged - Check the components for worn or defect and replace if necessary.

Battery does not charge
Corroded or loose wire connections - Service or tighten cable connections.
Battery terminal clamps are defective - Replace terminal clamps.
Bad cell in battery - Install a new battery.
Belt is loose or defective - Install a new belt or adjust belt tension.
Starter turning slow
Battery voltage is low - Battery is drained, charge it.
Battery is draining quickly - Service battery or change it.
Battery cables are disconnected or terminals are faulty - Check cables and service or change terminals.
Starter does not work
Battery is drained or worn - Charge or change the battery.
Wiring is incorrectly connected or disconnected - Inspect wiring and connect correctly.
Low battery power - Recharge the battery.
Defective starter motor - Starter needs to be replaced.
