Case SR175 Troubleshooting
The Case SR175 skid steer loader driveline system components: ISM Shibaura N844LTA 4-cylinder turbocharged intercooled diesel engine with a rated power of 64 hp (47.6 kW), and 1-speed or 2-speed hydrostatic transmission. The hydraulic system has a pump with a rated capacity of 20.6 gal/min (78 l/min) or 30.7 gal/min (116.2 l/min). The Case SR175 is equipped with a radial-lift loader boom, ASA 80 drive chains, and 10x16.5 standard tires. The skid steer loader has a maximum lift height of 122" (3100 mm) to hinge pin and dump height of 97.2" (2470 mm). The rated operating capacity is 1750 lbs (790 kg), and tipping load is 3500 lbs (1590 kg).

Engine starts up hard or won't start
There is air in the fuel system - Bleed the system.
Dirty fuel filter - Change filter element.
Defective or clogged injection nozzle - Clean or replace injection nozzles.
Water in the fuel system - Change fuel and repair fuel system.
The valve clearance is not adjusted - Correct valve clearance.
Fuel injection pump damage - Replacement or repair required.
Engine stalls after starting
Plugged air cleaner - Clean or change cleaner.
Dirty fuel filter - Replace the filter element.
Problems with fuel injection pump tightness - Inspect fuel injection pump for leaks.
Fuel injectors are faulty or clogged - Clean or replace fuel injectors.
Damaged fuel injection pump - Replacement or repair required.
Engine stops running suddenly
Coolant temperature is low - Warm up the engine.
Fuel filter element clogging - Change filter element.
There is air in the fuel system - Bleed the system.
Faulty fuel injection nozzles - Check injection nozzles and replace if required.
Incorrect adjustment of fuel injection pump timing - Set it up as required.
Engine stalling at idle
Low idle speed adjustment is incorrect - Need to adjust idle speed.
Fuel injection pump malfunction - Rebuild or install a new injection pump.
Damaged or clogged injectors - Replace fuel injectors.
Valve clearance is not correct - Adjustment procedure required.
Diesel power loss
Dirty air filter - Service or replace the air filter.
Clogged injection nozzle - Change fuel injection nozzles.
Uneven fuel injection pressure - Check the fuel injection pressure and adjust if necessary.
Incorrect valve clearance - Adjust to proper valve clearance.
Incorrect low idle speed adjustment - Correct the settings.
Fuel hoses or lines are clogged - Service fuel hoses and lines.
Damaged cylinder-head gasket - Change cylinder head gasket.
Piston rings are worn or defective - Install new piston rings.
Engine overheats
Not enough coolant - Add coolant fluid to cooling system and also check it for leaks.
Low engine oil level - Check and refill engine oil.
Radiator fins are dirty or radiator cap is defective - Install new cap or clean radiator.
Damaged or worn fan belt - If necessary, replace the belt.
Engine overloaded - Load reducing is recommended.
Insufficient oil pressure
Oil level is low - Need to add oil.
Oil filter is dirty - Clean or change engine oil filter.
Incorrect oil viscosity - Fill up with the correct oil viscosity.
Crankshaft bearing has incorrect oil clearance - Replace bearings.
Oil pump failure - Repair or change.
Engine noises or knocks
Engine oil level low - Check and refill engine oil.
Low coolant temperature - Warm up engine as required.
Wrong setting of fuel injection pump timing - Set the fuel pump timing correctly.
Improperly adjusted low idle speed - Adjust the low idle speed.
Fuel injector fault - Replace or clean fuel injectors.
Connecting rod is worn or misaligned - Connecting rod needs to be replaced or aligned.
Broken or worn pistons - Install new pistons.

Machine will not move in either direction or one direction
Insufficient hydraulic oil - Checking hydraulic oil level and add if necessary.
Drive chain failure - Check drive chain and change faulty components.
Worn or damaged relief valve - Change or repair relief valve.

Defective or worn foot or hand controls - Repair or replace.

Power is too low
Hydraulic oil filter is plugged - Check, clean, or replace as required.
Relief valve is damaged or open - Close or replace relief valve.
Transmission parts are defective or worn - Check and change defective components.
Input drive shaft is defective - Repair or replace drive shaft.
Air trapped in hydraulic system - Need to bleed air.
Overheated drive system
Hydraulic oil level is low - Checking hydraulic oil level and add if necessary.
Hydraulic fluid filter is dirty - Change or clean hydraulic filter.
Stuck relief valve - Change or repair defective relief valve.
Hydraulic motor or drive pump failure - Change or repair faulty component.
Hydraulic oil cooler is dirty - Clean cooling fins as required.
Drive system is overloaded - Reduce drive system load.
Drive system is noisy
Oil viscosity is incorrect - Use the specified type of oil.
There is air in the hydraulic system - Bleed hydraulic system.
Hydraulic motor or drive pump failure - Repair or change faulty component.

Defective or not adjusted hydraulic control valve - Repair or set correctly.
Hydraulic system loosing pressure - Correct setting is required.
Lift arm or bucket is jerky

Battery is not charging
Wiring connections are loose or corroded - Tighten or service cable connections.
Defective electrical terminal connectors - Change terminal connectors.
Battery is worn - Battery replacement required.
Belt is damaged or loose - Belt needs to be adjusted or changed.
Starter cranks slow
Battery power is low - Recharge the battery.
Battery runs out quickly - Service battery or replace it.
Disconnected cables or faulty battery terminals - Check cables and clean or change terminals.
Starter does not work
Battery is low or faulty - Charge or replace the battery.
Battery cables are disconnected or improperly connected - Inspect cables and connect properly.
Battery capacity is low - Recharge the battery.
Damaged starter motor - Starter needs to be changed.
