Gehl R150 Troubleshooting
The Gehl R150 skid steer loader driveline system components: a 133.6 cu.in (2.2L) Yanmar 4TNV88C-KMS 4-cycle 4-cylinder direct injection water-cooled diesel engine with a rated power of 44.5 hp (33 kW), and 1-speed hydrostatic transmission. The hydraulic system has a pump with a rated capacity of 17 gal/min (64.4 l/min). The system pressure is 3000 psi (207 bar). The Gehl R150 is equipped with a radial-lift boom, 80H drive chains, and 10x16.5 HD standard tires. The skid steer loader has a max lift height of 119" (3025 mm) to hinge pin and dump height of 93.7" (2380 mm). The rated operating capacity is 1500 lbs (680 kg), and tipping load is 3027 lbs (1383 kg).

Diesel hard to start or doesn't start
Air in fuel system - Bleed fuel system.
Dirty fuel filter - Clean the filter or install new filter element.

Incorrect valve clearance - Adjust valve clearance.

Engine stops running suddenly
Engine is not preheated - Warm up to required temperature.
Dirty fuel filter - Clean or change the filter.
Air in fuel system - Bleed fuel system.
Fuel injection nozzles are faulty or clogged - Change fuel injection nozzles.
Fuel injection pump timing is not adjusted - Adjust fuel injection pump as required.
Engine shuts off while idling
Low idle speed set incorrectly - Adjust the low idle speed.
Defective fuel injection pump - Install a new fuel pump or repair.
Fuel injector fault - Clean fuel injectors or change it.
Improper valve clearance - Adjust valve clearance.
Engine power is too low
Air filter is plugged - Install new air filter element.
Damaged or dirty injection nozzles - Clean or replace injection nozzles.
Fuel injection pressure is wrong - Correct the pressure settings.
Valve clearance is not correct - Check and adjust.
Wrong adjustment of low idle speed - Test and adjust.
Fuel lines or hoses clogging - Service fuel lines and hoses.
Leaking cylinder head gasket - Replace the gasket as required.
Piston rings are leaking or defective - Replace piston rings.
Engine overheating
Low engine coolant - Add coolant fluid and inspect the cooling system for leaks.
Engine oil level low - Fill up the oil to required level.
Radiator core is dirty or radiator cap is damaged - Change cap or clean radiator.
Loose or defective fan belt - If necessary, replace the belt.
Engine overload - Load reducing required.
Low oil pressure
Engine oil insufficient - Need to add oil.
Engine oil filter is plugged - Replace or clean engine oil filter element.
Improper type of engine oil - Use oil of proper viscosity.
Incorrect crankshaft bearing oil clearance - Bearings need to be reinstalled.
Oil pump is damaged - Repair or replace.
Abnormal engine knocking or noise
Engine oil level low - Fill up the oil to required level.
Engine is cold - Engine is not warmed up to the required temperature.
Incorrect adjustment of fuel injection pump timing - Check the fuel injection pump timing adjustment.
Low idle speed setting is incorrect - Correct low idle adjustment.
Damaged or clogged injectors - Clean fuel injectors or change it.
Connecting rod is worn or misaligned - Replace or align connecting rod.
Piston wear or scoring - Pistons replacement required.

Drive system сan't work in either direction
Insufficient hydraulic oil - Fill the system to proper hydraulic oil level.
Drive chain is worn - Check drive chain and change defective components.
Relief valve is damaged - Repair or install a new relief valve.
Plugged hydraulic filter or suction line - Service suction line or replace hydraulic filter.
Worn or defective hand or foot controls - Replace or repair.
Defective drive pump or motor - Inspect and change as required.
Loss of power
Hydraulic oil filter is dirty - Change or clean hydraulic filter.
Opened or defective relief valve - Change or close relief valve.
Transmission parts are damaged or faulty - Inspect and replace defective parts.
Input drive shaft failure - Repair or replace drive shaft.
Air trapped in hydraulic system - Bleed hydraulic system.
Drive system is overheated
Hydraulic fluid level low - Fill up the hydraulic fluid.
Dirty hydraulic fluid filter - Change or service hydraulic filter.
Defective relief valve - Repair or replace relief valve.
Hydraulic motor or drive pump failure - Inspect and change as required.
Clogged hydraulic oil cooler - Cooling fins need to be cleaned.
Overloaded drive system - Reduce loading.
Drive system makes excessive noise
Oil viscosity is incorrect - Use correct oil viscosity.
Hydraulic system is leaking air - Need to bleed air.
Drive pump or hydraulic motor is damaged - Check and repair if required.
Mechanical parts of drive system are defective or worn - Inspect the components for defect or damage and repair as needed.

Lift arm or bucket movements are jerky

Suction line is dirty - Clean suction line as required.
Air in hydraulic pump - Bleed air from hydraulics.
Pump parts are worn out - Install new hydraulic pump or rebuild it.

Battery will not charge
Loose or corroded electrical wiring connections - Tighten or clean electrical wiring connections.
Defective battery terminal connectors - Replace terminal connectors.
Bad cell in battery - Replace the battery.
Defective or loose belt - Adjust belt tension or change the belt.
Starter cranks slow
Low battery power - Low battery charging, charge as required.
Battery will not hold charge - Service or replace the battery.
Faulty battery terminals or disconnected cables - Connect cables correctly or replace terminals.
Starter motor won't turn
Battery is low or faulty - Recharge or change battery.
Battery cables are disconnected or incorrectly connected - Check cables and connect as needed.
Low battery power - Battery needs to be recharged.
Starter motor is faulty - Change or repair starter.
