Case SV300 Troubleshooting

The Case SV300 skid steer loader driveline system components: FPT F5C E5454 4-cylinder turbocharged liquid-cooled diesel engine with a rated power of 84 hp (63 kW), and 1-speed or 2-speed hydrostatic transmission. The hydraulic system has a pump with a rated capacity of 22.5 gal/min (85 l/min) or 34.6 gal/min (131 l/min). The Case SV300 is equipped with a vertical-lift loader boom, ASA 100 drive chains, and 12.00x16.5 or 14.00x17.5 tires. The skid steer loader has a maximum lift height of 130" (3300 mm) to hinge pin and dump height of 103.5" (2630 mm). The rated operating capacity is 3000 lbs (1365 kg), and tipping load is 6000 lbs (2730 kg).

Engine Troubleshooting

Engine difficult to start or doesn't start
Air trapped in fuel system - Bleed air.
Fuel filter element clogging - Change filter element.
Dirty or damaged injection nozzles - Inspect nozzles and replace if necessary.
Dirt or water in fuel system - Drain water or flush dirt from the system.
Improper valve clearance - Check and adjust.
Fuel injection pump malfunction - Rebuild or replace pump.

Engine starts and stalls suddenly
Plugged air cleaner - Clean or replace element.
Fuel filter plugging - Replace filter element.
Problems with fuel injection pump tightness - Inspect fuel injection pump for leaks.
Fuel injectors are dirty or defective - Replace or clean fuel injectors.
Fuel injection pump is damaged - Install a new pump or rebuild.

Engine stalls after running
Engine is not warmed up to the required temperature - Normalize the temperature by warming up the engine.
Fuel filter is plugged - Replace filter element.
Air in fuel tank - Bleed fuel tank.
Faulty or dirty injection nozzles - Test injection nozzles and change if necessary.
Improper fuel injection timing - Adjust as recommended.

Engine stalls while idle
Too low idle RPM - Need to adjust idle speed.
Fuel injection pump is not operating properly - Repair or install a new fuel pump.
Fuel injectors are dirty or defective - Clean or replace fuel injectors.
Valve clearance is not correct - Need to adjust valve clearance.

Engine loses power
Dirty air cleaner - Service or replace air cleaner.
Fuel injection nozzles are dirty or defective - Clean or replace injection nozzles.
Fuel injection pressure is incorrect - Adjust pressure to proper level.
Valve clearance is wrong - Adjust valve clearance according to specifications.
Too low idle RPM - Adjust as required.
Restricted fuel hoses or lines - Fuel lines and hoses need to be cleaned.
Cylinder head gasket defective - Replace the gasket as required.
Piston rings are defective or leaking - Install new piston rings.

Engine is overheated
Lack of engine coolant - Add coolant fluid to cooling system and also check it for leaks.
Not enough engine oil - Add oil to the engine crankcase.
Clogged radiator core or leaking radiator cap - Clean radiator or install new cap.
Fan belt is worn or faulty - Install new fan belt.
Engine is overloaded - Reduce load on the engine.

Oil pressure is low
Engine oil level low - Check and refill the oil.
Oil filter element clogging - Replace or clean engine oil filter element.
Incorrect engine oil Fill up with the correct oil viscosity.
Incorrect crankshaft bearing oil clearance - Install new bearings.
Worn oil pump - Repair or replace.

Abnormal engine noise or knocking
Low engine oil level - Fill up the oil to required level.
Engine is cold - Warm up engine as required.
Fuel injection pump timing is wrong - Use the correct fuel injection pump timing adjustment.
Low idle speed adjustment is incorrect - Correct low idle adjustment.
Fuel injectors are dirty or defective - Replace fuel injectors.
Misaligned or faulty connecting rod - Connecting rod needs to be aligned or changed.
Piston wear or scoring - Install new pistons.

Drive System Troubleshooting

Drive system does not work in either direction
Hydraulic oil level is low - Checking hydraulic oil level and add if necessary.
Drive chain is worn - Inspect drive chain and replace defective components.
Relief valver is broken - Rebuild or install a new relief valve.
Suction line or hydraulic filter is clogged - Check, clean, or change if necessary.
Hand or foot controls malfunction - Change or repair.
Drive pump or motor malfunction - Replace or repair faulty component.

Lack of power
Dirty hydraulic oil filter - Replace hydraulic filter.
Relief valve is open or worn - Change or close relief valve.
Transmission parts are damaged or faulty - Inspect and replace defective parts.
Damaged input drive shaft - Service or change faulty drive shaft.
Air in hydraulic system - Bleed air from hydraulic system.

Drive system is overheated
Low hydraulic fluid level - Fill up the hydraulic fluid.
Dirty hydraulic fluid filter - Change or clean hydraulic filter.
Defective relief valve - Repair or install a new relief valve.
Drive pump or hydraulic motor is damaged - Inspect and replace as necessary.
Oil cooler is clogged - Clean the cooling fins.
Transmission overloading - Reduce loading.

Drive system makes excessive noise
Incorrect oil viscosity - Use oil of proper viscosity.
Hydraulic system is leaking air - Bleed hydraulic system.
Drive pump or hydraulic motor is damaged - Check and repair if required.
Mechanical components of drive system are worn or damaged - Check drive system and change faulty parts.

Hydraulics Troubleshooting

Hydraulic system overheated
Hydraulic pressure is incorrect - Adjust it correctly.
Main relief valve improper adjustment or failure - Adjust relief valve or change if required.
Contaminated hydraulic oil - The oil must be changed.
Not enough hydraulic fluid in the system - Check and refill the hydraulic fluid.
Faulty hydraulic oil pump - Repair or change pump if required.

Boom cannot be lowered or raised
Lift controls failure - Repair or change.
Hydraulic pump not working - Repair or replace pump if necessary.
Defective hydraulic control valve - Repair or replace the valve.

Insufficient hydraulic oil - Need to add oil.

Bucket tilt does not work

Hydraulic cylinder oil leakage - Change cylinder piston seals.
Insufficient hydraulic oil - Need to add oil.
Hydraulic control valve is defective or set improper - Repair or adjust correctly.
Low hydraulic pressure - Hydraulic pressure must be set correctly.

Bucket or boom movements are jerky
Air leaks in hydraulic system - Bleed air from hydraulic system.
Hydraulic oil filter element clogging - Replace or clean the filter.
Hydraulic fluid contamination - Change hydraulic fluid.
Cylinder tube or rod scoring - Replace worn component.

Hydraulic pump makes excessive noise
Leaking hydraulic system or insufficient oil level - Add hydraulic oil or correct system leaks.
Hydraulic filter is clogged - Clean or change the filter.
Plugged suction line - Suction line must be serviced.
Pump sucks air - Need to bleed air.
Faulty pump components - Rebuild or change hydraulic pump.

Electrical Troubleshooting

Battery does not charge
Electrical cable connections are corroded or loose - Tighten or clean electrical wiring connections.
Faulty battery terminal clamps - Install new terminal clamps.
Bad cell in battery - Battery replacement required.
Belt is worn or loose - Adjust belt tension or replace belt.

Starter cranks slow
Low battery capacity - Battery is drained, recharge it.
Battery drains quickly - Service charging system or install new battery.
Terminals are faulty or battery cables are disconnected - Connect wiring correctly or install new terminals.

Starter will not crank
Battery is drained or worn - Battery needs to be recharged or replaced.
Battery wiring is disconnected or improperly connected - Inspect wiring and connect as required.
Battery capacity is low - Battery needs to be recharged.
Faulty starter motor - Repair or install a new starter.
