Case 1830 Troubleshooting
The
Case 1830 skid steer loader is powered by 67.7 cubic inches (1.1L) Renault R688
4-stroke 4-cylinder water-cooled gasoline engine with a rated power of 30 hp
(22.5 kW) at 3200 rpm. The Case 1830 is equipped with a radial-lift loader boom,
single-speed hydrostatic transmission, 60H drive chains, and 7.00x15 or
10.00x16.5 tires. The hydraulic system has a pump with fluid flow rate of 10 gpm
(37.9 lpm). The hydraulic pressure is 2250 psi (155 bar). The skid steer loader
has a rated operating capacity of 1200 lbs (545 kg) and tipping load of 2130 lbs
(965 kg). The lift height is 110 inches (2795 mm) to hinge pin, and dump height
is 84 inches (2135 mm).
Engine Troubleshooting |
Engine won't start or hard to start
No gasoline in tank - Fill fuel up.
Wrong fuel grade - Change gasoline.
Clogged fuel system - Remove clogging.
Spark plug wiring connection is damaged - Inspect spark plug wiring connection, change or repair.
Defective spark plug - Install new spark plug.
Ignition failure - Inspect ignition system and change failed components.
Fuel filter is plugged - Change fuel filter.
Restricted fuel lines - Service fuel lines.
Fuel pump is clogged or faulty - Inspect fuel pump and change as required.
Problems with carburetor adjustment - Adjust as required.
Engine has low compression - Check cylinder block and replace defective parts.
Engine runs roughly
Ignition failure - Check ignition system and replace faulty parts.
Clogged air filter - Clean or change.
Spark plug is faulty - Install new spark plug.
Dirty or faulty fuel pump - Inspect fuel pump and change as required.
Excessive valve clearance - Check and adjust.
Ignition timing is wrong - Ignition timing needs to be adjusted correctly.
Low idle speed adjustment is incorrect - Adjust the low idle speed.
Engine stops after starting
Spark plug is faulty - Change spark plug.
Carburetor is dirty or defective - Service or repair carburetor.
Faulty ignition coil - Change ignition coil as required.
Valve springs are weak or broken - Replace valve springs.
Valves are stuck - Clean the valves.
Engine overheats
Low engine oil level - Check and refill engine oil.
Engine is under excessive load - Reduce load.
Carburetor fuel mixture is too lean - Make the correct settings.
Wrong ignition timing - Ignition timing needs to be adjusted correctly.

Radiator core is clogged or radiator cap is leaking - Clean radiator or install new cap.

Stale fuel - Change gasoline.

Drive system overheats

Excessive hydraulic pump noise

Clogged suction line - Suction line must be serviced.
Pump is sucking air - Bleed air from hydraulics.

Battery does not charge
Loose or corroded cable connections - Tighten or service cable connections.
Defective battery terminal clamps - Install new terminal clamps.
Battery dead cell - Replace the battery.
Belt is defective or loose - Belt needs to be adjusted or replaced.
Starter turns slow
Battery capacity is low - Battery needs to be recharged.
Battery is not holding charge - Service or replace the battery.
Disconnected wires or corroded battery terminals - Connect cables properly or replace terminals.
Starter is not cranking
Battery is low or faulty - Battery needs to be recharged or replaced.
