Takeuchi TL26 Troubleshooting

The Takeuchi TL26 compact track loader driveline system components: Isuzu 4JB1 4-stroke vertical in-line 4-cylinder direct injection turbocharged liquid-cooled diesel engine with a rated power of 61 hp (45.2 kW), and 1-speed hydrostatic transmission. The hydraulic system has a pump with a rated flow of 18 gpm (68.2 lpm). The Takeuchi TL26 is equipped with a radial-lift loader boom, hydraulic disc brake, 12.6" (320 mm) rubber tracks, and hydraulic self leveling. The loader has a bucket breakout force of 4930 lbs (2240 kg) and maximum lift height of 119.2" (3025 mm) to hinge pin. The rated operating capacity is 1875 lbs (850 kg), and tipping load is 3750 lbs (1700 kg).

Engine Troubleshooting

Engine difficult to start or doesn't start
Air in the fuel system - Air bleeding.
Dirty fuel filter - Change the filter element.
Fuel injection nozzles are faulty or clogged - If necessary, replace with a new nozzle.
Water in the fuel system - Change fuel and repair fuel system.
Improper valve clearance - Adjust valve clearance according to specifications.
Fuel injection pump malfunction - Change or repair the pump.

Diesel starts and stops
Plugged air filter - Clean or change.
Clogged fuel filter - Replace the filter element.
Fuel injection pump is leaking - Repair any leaks.
Clogged or defective injectors - Change or clean fuel injectors.
Fuel injection pump is faulty - Install a new fuel pump or repair.

Diesel shuts off while driving
Engine not warmed up - Warm up the engine.
Clogged fuel filter - Service or replace the filter.
Air in the fuel pipes - Bleed the fuel pipes.
Fuel injection nozzles are dirty or defective - Check and replace nozzles if required.
Incorrect adjustment of fuel injection pump timing - Set the fuel pump timing correctly.

Engine stalls at low idle speed
Incorrectly set low idle speed - Normalize low idle speed.
Fuel injection pump malfunction - Replace or repair injection pump.
Fuel injectors are dirty or defective - Replace or clean fuel injectors.
Improper valve clearance - Adjust valve clearance.

Lack of engine power
Air filter is clogged - Replace or clean air filter element.
Fuel injection nozzles are clogged or faulty - Check injection nozzles and replace if required.
Improper fuel injection pressure - Check the fuel injection pressure and adjust if necessary.
Valve clearance is out of adjustment - Adjust valve clearance according to specifications.
Incorrectly adjusted low idle speed - Adjust low idling as recommended.
Fuel hoses or lines are dirty - Service fuel lines and hoses.
Leaking cylinder head gasket - Cylinder-head gasket replacement required.
Piston rings are broken or leaking - Replace piston rings.

Engine overheated
Low coolant level - The cooling system needs to be refilled and checked for faults.
Engine oil level is low - Add oil to the engine crankcase.
Clogged radiator core or leaking radiator cap - Install new cap or clean radiator.
Fan belt is worn or faulty - Change the fan belt.
Diesel engine is overloaded - Reduce engine load.

Oil pressure too low
Engine oil insufficient - Add oil as required.
Plugged engine oil filter - Clean or replace engine oil filter element.
Wrong oil viscosity - Use correct viscosity oil.
Excessive main bearing oil clearance - Bearings need to be reinstalled.
Oil pump malfunction - Remove and inspect oil pump.

Abnormal engine noise or knocking
Not enough engine oil - Fill up the engine oil.
Engine not warmed up - Normalize the temperature by warming up the engine.
Timing of fuel injection pump is incorrect - Adjust according to specifications.
Low idle speed setting is not correct - Correct low idle adjustment.
Defective fuel injectors - Clean fuel injectors or change it.
Connecting rod is misaligned or defective - Replace or align connecting rod.
Scored or worn pistons - Replace the pistons.

Drive System Troubleshooting

Machine will not move in either direction or one direction
Hydraulic oil level is low - Need to add oil.
Track mechanism is blocked or damaged - Remove blockage or repair tracks.
Defective input drive shaft - Change or repair.
Relief valve is damaged or worn - Rebuild or install a new relief valve.
Suction line or hydraulic filter is plugged - Service suction line or replace hydraulic filter.
Foot or hand controls are damaged - Repair or change.
Drive motor or pump failure - Inspect and replace as necessary.

Machine does not move straight or moves jerky
Damaged or jammed track mechanism - Repair or fix jamming.
Sagging or faulty tracks - Repair tracks or correct track sag with tension.
Undercarriage track frame is clogged with dirt, debris, or foreign objects - Remove debris or foreign objects and clean track frame.

Reduced power
Plugged hydraulic oil filter - Check, clean, or change as necessary.
Defective or open relief valve - Replace or close relief valve.
Transmission parts are damaged or faulty - Check and change defective components.
Input drive shaft is defective - Repair or install a new drive shaft.
Hydraulic system is leaking air - Bleed air from system.

Drive system overheats
Hydraulic oil level is low - Need to add oil.
Plugged hydraulic fluid filter - Change or service hydraulic filter.
Relief valve is damaged - Repair or install a new relief valve.
Hydraulic motor or drive pump is defective - Repair or change faulty component.
Hydraulic oil cooler is dirty - Clean the cooling fins.
Drive system overload - Reduce the load.

Drive system is noisy
Oil viscosity is incorrect - Use proper oil viscosity.
Air in hydraulic system - Bleed air from system.
Drive pump or hydraulic motor malfunction - Inspect and replace as necessary.
Mechanical components of drive system are worn or damaged - Inspect the parts for defect or damage and repair as required.

Hydraulics Troubleshooting

Hydraulic system is overheated
Hydraulic pressure incorrectly adjusted - Set pressure correctly.
Misadjusted or defective main relief valve - Adjust the valve or replace if necessary.
Hydraulic oil contamination - The oil must be changed.
Lack of hydraulic oil - Check oil level and add hydraulic oil as required.
Hydraulic pump is faulty - Replace or repair pump if necessary.

Boom does not raise or lower
Lift controls malfunction - Replace or repair.
Defective hydraulic pump - Repair or change pump if required.
Faulty hydraulic control valve - Repair or replace hydraulic valve.
Hydraulic cylinder failure - Repair or change hydraulic cylinder.
Insufficient hydraulic oil - Checking hydraulic oil level and add if necessary.

Bucket is not working
Bucket tilt controls malfunction - Replace or repair.
Defective hydraulic pump - Replace or repair pump if necessary.
Faulty hydraulic control valve - Change or repair hydraulic valve.
Damaged bucket cylinder - Repair or install a new cylinder.
Low hydraulic fluid level - Add fluid as required.

Boom or bucket is working slowly
Hydraulic pump is worn - Check pump performance and change it if necessary.
Leaking hydraulic cylinder - Correct leakage by changing the seals.
Low hydraulic oil level - Need to add oil.
Defective or not adjusted hydraulic control valve - Repair or adjust properly.
Hydraulic pressure has dropped - Set pressure correctly.

Lift arm or bucket jerks when working
Air in hydraulic system - Air bleeding is required.
Hydraulic oil filter element clogging - Clean or install new filter.
Dirty hydraulic oil - The oil must be changed.
Scratched cylinder rod or tube - Change failed component.

Excessive hydraulic pump noise
Hydraulic leakage or lack of oil - Add hydraulic oil or correct system leaks.
Dirty hydraulic filter - Service or change hydraulic filter.
Suction line is dirty - Need to service the suction line.
Air enters the pump - Bleed air.
Pump parts are faulty - Replace or rebuild the pump.

Electrical Troubleshooting

Battery will not charge
Wiring connections are corroded or loose - Tighten or service cable connections.
Faulty electrical terminal connectors - Terminal connectors need to be changed.
Defective battery - Battery change required.
Worn or loose belt - Belt needs to be adjusted or replaced.

Starter turns slow
Low battery power - Battery is drained, recharge it.
Battery runs out quickly - Service charging system or change battery.
Disconnected wires or corroded battery terminals - Connect wires properly or change terminals.

Starter will not work
Battery is discharged or worn - Recharge or change battery.
Disconnected or incorrectly connected wires - Inspect battery wires and connect correctly.
Battery capacity is low - Battery is drained, recharge it.
Damaged starter motor - Repair or install a new starter.
