Takeuchi TL130 Troubleshooting

The Takeuchi TL130 compact track loader is powered by 202.6 cu.in (3.3L) Yanmar 4TNV98 four-stroke vertical four-cylinder naturally aspirated liquid-cooled diesel engine with a rated power of 67 hp (50 kW) at 2450 rpm. The Takeuchi TL130 is equipped with a two-speed hydrostatic transmission, radial-lift loader boom, hydraulic self leveling, and 12.6" (320 mm) rubber tracks. The hydraulic system has a gear pump with fluid flow rate of 18 gpm (68.2 lpm). The track loader has a rated operating capacity of 2315 lbs (1052 kg) and tipping load of 4630 lbs (2104 kg). The lift height is 119.3 inches (3030 mm) to hinge pin, and dump height is 93.4 inches (2370 mm).

Engine Troubleshooting

Diesel engine hard to start or doesn't start
Air in the fuel lines - Bleed the fuel lines.
Fuel filter element clogging - Service or replace the filter.
Faulty or dirty injection nozzles - Test injection nozzles and change if necessary.
Dirt or water in fuel system - Drain water or flush dirt from the system.
Excessive valve clearance - Have it adjusted.
Defective fuel injection pump - Change or repair the pump.

Engine starts but stops suddenly
Air cleaner is dirty - Clean or replace air cleaner element.
Clogged fuel filter - Clean or change the filter.
Fuel injection pump has loose connections - Tighten the connections.
Dirty or defective injectors - Clean or replace fuel injectors.
Damaged fuel injection pump - Repair or install new pump.

Engine stalls during operation
Engine not warmed up - Warm up engine as required.
Fuel filter element is clogged - Change filter element.
Air trapped in fuel system - Bleed air.
Fuel injection nozzles are damaged - Change fuel injection nozzles.
Timing of fuel injection pump is incorrect - Set up as recommended.

Engine stops when idling
Wrong adjustment of low idle speed - Correct low idle adjustment.
Fuel injection pump malfunction - Rebuild or replace pump.
Clogged or defective injectors - Replace or clean fuel injectors.
Excessive valve clearance - Need to adjust valve clearance.

Engine loses power
Air cleaner is clogged - Service or replace air cleaner.
Defective or clogged injection nozzle - Change fuel injection nozzles.
Fuel injection pressure is wrong - Correct the pressure settings.
Valve clearance is out of adjustment - Adjust valve clearance.
Too low idle RPM - Adjust low idling as recommended.
Fuel lines or hoses are clogged - Fuel lines and hoses need to be cleaned.
Cylinder-head gasket is broken - Cylinder-head gasket replacement required.
Piston rings are defective or leaking - Install new piston rings.

Engine overheats
Not enough coolant - Add coolant and check the components of cooling system.
Insufficient engine oil - Checking oil level and add if necessary.
Dirty radiator fins or faulty radiator cap - Change cap or clean radiator.
Loose or defective fan belt - Belt replacement is recommended.
Engine is under excessive load - Reduce load on the engine.

Low oil pressure
Low oil level - Fill the crankcase with oil.
Oil filter is clogged - Clean or replace engine oil filter element.
Oil grade or viscosity is incorrect - Use the specified type of engine oil.
Excessive oil clearance of crankshaft bearing - Change bearings.
Oil pump is defective - Remove and inspect oil pump.

Abnormal engine knocking or noise
Engine oil level is low - Add oil to the engine crankcase.
Engine is not fully warmed up - Warm up the engine.
Wrong setting of fuel injection pump timing - Set up as recommended.
Incorrect low idle speed adjustment - Correct low idle settings.
Damaged or clogged injectors - Inspect fuel injectors and change as required.
Connecting rod is not aligned or worn - Connecting rod needs to be aligned or changed.
Worn or scored pistons - Replace the pistons.

Drive System Troubleshooting

Drive system won't operate in either direction
Insufficient hydraulic oil - Check and refill the hydraulic oil.
Defective or blocked undercarriage tracks - Repair or remedy blockage.
Input drive shaft failure - Repair or install a new drive shaft.
Relief valve is worn or damaged - Repair or replace relief valve.
Dirty hydraulic filter or suction line - Check, clean, or replace if required.
Foot or hand controls are damaged - Repair or replace.
Damaged drive pump or motor - Repair or change faulty component.

Machine won't move straight or moves jerky
Undercarriage tracks are jammed or defective - Remedy jamming or repair tracks.
Faulty or loose tracks - Adjust track tension or repair tracks.
Debris, dirt, or foreign objects jammed in undercarriage track frame - Remove debris or foreign objects and clean track frame.

Reduced power
Hydraulic oil filter is dirty - Change or clean hydraulic filter.
Opened or worn relief valve - Change or close relief valve.
Transmission parts are damaged or faulty - Inspect and change faulty parts.
Defective input drive shaft - Replace drive shaft.
Hydraulic system is leaking air - Bleed hydraulic system.

Overheated drive system
Hydraulic oil is insufficient - Check and refill the hydraulic oil.
Hydraulic fluid filter is clogged - Change or clean hydraulic filter.
Relief valve is stuck - Repair or change.
Drive pump or hydraulic motor malfunction - Repair or replace faulty component.
Oil cooler is clogged - Clean cooling fins as required.
Overloaded drive system - Reduce loading.

Drive system is noisy
Oil viscosity is too heavy - Use proper oil viscosity.
There is air in the hydraulic system - Need to bleed air.
Defective drive pump or hydraulic motor - Inspect and replace as necessary.
Worn or damaged mechanical parts of drive system - Inspect the parts for defect or damage and repair as required.

Hydraulics Troubleshooting

Hydraulic system overheating
Hydraulic pressure is not correct - Adjust it correctly.
Main relief valve failure or improper setting - Adjust or change relief valve.
Hydraulic oil is contaminated - The oil must be changed.
Lack of hydraulic oil - Add oil to the hydraulic system.
Hydraulic pump is defective - Repair or replace pump if necessary.

Lift arm won't raise or lower
Lift controls are defective - Repair or replace.
Defective hydraulic pump - Change or repair hydraulic pump if required.
Damaged hydraulic control valve - Repair or change the valve.
Hydraulic cylinder not working - Repair or change hydraulic cylinder.
Hydraulic fluid is insufficient - Fill the system to proper hydraulic fluid level.

Bucket won't move
Bucket tilt controls malfunction - Change or repair.
Damaged hydraulic oil pump - Install new pump or repair it.
Hydraulic control valve is faulty - Install a new valve or repair it.
Hydraulic bucket cylinder is broken - Change or repair cylinder.
Insufficient hydraulic fluid - Fill the system to proper hydraulic fluid level.

Slow boom or bucket operation
Defective hydraulic pump - Flow-rate hydraulic pump and replace pump if necessary.
Hydraulic cylinder oil leakage - Correct leakage by changing the seals.
Hydraulic fluid level low - Fill the system to proper hydraulic fluid level.
Worn or unadjusted hydraulic control valve - Repair or set correctly.
Hydraulic pressure has dropped - Adjust it correctly.

Bucket or boom is moving jerkily
There is air in the hydraulic system - Bleed air from hydraulic system.
Hydraulic oil filter element clogging - Service or replace the hydraulic filter.
Contaminated hydraulic fluid - The fluid must be changed.
Cylinder tube or rod scoring - Replace defective component.

Hydraulic pump is excessively noisy
Insufficient oil level or leaking hydraulic system - Correct hydraulic leaks or top up oil as needed.
Hydraulic filter clogging - Change or clean oil filter.
Dirty suction line - Clean suction line as required.
Pump is sucking air - Remove air from hydraulics.
Pump components are faulty - Change or rebuild pump.

Electrical Troubleshooting

Battery will not charge
Electrical cable connections are corroded or loose - Tighten or service connections.
Faulty battery terminal connectors - Change terminal connectors.
Battery failing - Install a new battery.
Belt is damaged or loose - Replace belt or adjust belt tension.

Starter motor turns slow
Low battery power - Charge the battery.
Battery will not hold charge - Battery needs to be serviced or replaced.
Faulty battery terminals or disconnected cables - Connect cables properly or replace terminals.

Starter motor won't turn
Battery is discharged or worn - Recharge or replace battery.
Disconnected or improperly connected wiring harness - Inspect battery wiring harness and connect as required.
Low battery output - Recharge the battery.
Starter motor failing - Starter should be changed.
