Takeuchi TL126 Troubleshooting

The Takeuchi TL126 compact track loader is powered by 169 cu.in (2.8L) Isuzu 4JB1 vertical inline four-cylinder turbocharged liquid-cooled diesel engine with a rated power of 61 hp (45.2 kW) at 2600 rpm. The Takeuchi TL126 is equipped with a single-speed hydrostatic transmission, radial-lift loader boom, hydraulic self leveling, 12.6" (320 mm) rubber tracks, and hydraulic disc brake. The hydraulic system has a pump with fluid flow rate of 17.4 gpm (66 lpm). The track loader has a rated operating capacity of 1875 lbs (850 kg) and tipping load of 3750 lbs (1700 kg). The lift height is 119.2 inches (3025 mm) to hinge pin, and dump height is 93.8" (2275 mm).

Engine Troubleshooting

Engine hard to start or doesn't start
Air in the fuel system - Air bleeding.
Fuel filter element is dirty - Replace the filter element.
Fuel injection nozzles are faulty or clogged - Install a new kit of correctly balanced nozzles.
Water in the fuel system - Change fuel and repair fuel system.
Incorrect valve clearance - Adjust valve clearance according to specifications.
Defective fuel injection pump - Rebuild or install a new injection pump.

Diesel starts but immediately stops
Clogged air cleaner - Install new air cleaner element.
Fuel filter element clogging - Change filter element.
Problems with fuel injection pump tightness - Inspect fuel injection pump for leaks.
Damaged or clogged injectors - Replace fuel injectors.
Fuel injection pump is damaged - Replace or rebuild injection pump.

Engine shuts off while running
Engine is not warmed up to the required temperature - Warm up the engine.
Dirty fuel filter - Clean or change the filter.
Air in fuel system - Bleed fuel system.
Dirty or damaged injection nozzles - If necessary, replace with a new nozzle.
Wrong setting of fuel injection pump timing - Adjust according to specifications.

Engine stalls at idle
Incorrect low idle speed adjustment - Adjust the low idle speed.
Fuel injection pump is broken - Replace or rebuild injection pump.
Fuel injector fault - Test and replace fuel injectors if necessary.
Valve clearance is out of adjustment - Adjustment procedure required.

Engine lacks power
Air cleaner is clogged - Clean or replace air cleaner element.
Defective injection nozzle - Service or change injection nozzles.
Fuel injection pressure is wrong - Adjust to proper pressure.
Valve clearance is not correct - Adjust to proper valve clearance.
Low idle speed set incorrectly - Adjust low idle speed.
Restricted fuel hoses or lines - Clean fuel hoses and lines.
Cylinder head gasket is blown - Install a new gasket.
Leaking or defective piston rings - Replace the piston rings as required.

Engine overheats
Insufficient coolant - Top up coolant fluid and check system for leaks.
Lack of engine oil - Add oil to the engine crankcase.
Radiator fins are dirty or radiator cap is defective - Replace cap or clean radiator.
Excessive wear of the fan belt - Replace as required.
Engine overloaded - Reduce engine load.

Low oil pressure
Not enough oil in the engine - Add oil to the engine crankcase.
Clogged oil filter element - Change or clean engine oil filter element.
Wrong oil viscosity - Fill up with the correct oil viscosity.
Crankshaft bearing oil clearance is excessive - Bearings need to be reinstalled.
Defective oil pump - Install a new pump.

Abnormal engine noise or knocking
Lack of engine oil - Checking oil level and add if necessary.
Engine is not preheated - Warm up the engine.
Wrong setting of fuel injection pump timing - Adjust according to specifications.
Improperly adjusted low idle speed - Adjust low idle speed.
Fuel injector fault - Inspect fuel injectors and change as required.
Misaligned or defective connecting rod - Alignment procedure or replacement is required.
Broken or worn pistons - Install new pistons.

Drive System Troubleshooting

Machine is not moving forward or backward
Low hydraulic oil level - Check and refill the hydraulic oil.
Defective or blocked track mechanism - Correct blockage or repair tracks.
Input drive shaft is damaged - Replace or service the drive shaft.
Relief valve is stuck - Repair or replace relief valve.
Clogged suction line or hydraulic filter - Check, clean, or replace if required.
Defective or worn foot or hand controls - Check and repair as required.
Drive motor or pump is defective - Check and repair if required.

Machine is not moving straight or moving is jerky
Undercarriage tracks are jammed or defective - Fix jamming or repair tracks.
Tracks are worn or improperly tensioned - Adjust track tension as required or replace tracks.
Track frame is blocked with debris, dirt, or foreign objects - Remove debris or foreign objects and clean track frame.

Loss of power
Plugged hydraulic oil filter - Change hydraulic filter.
Relief valve is defective or open - Change or close relief valve.
Transmission components are faulty or damaged - Check and replace defective components.
Input drive shaft is damaged - Repair or install a new drive shaft.
Hydraulic system is leaking air - Need to bleed air.

Drive system is overheated
Hydraulic fluid level low - Add fluid as required.
Dirty hydraulic fluid filter - Replace hydraulic filter.
Relief valve is stuck - Repair or change.
Hydraulic motor or drive pump is worn - Inspect and replace as necessary.
Hydraulic oil cooler is plugged - Clean the cooling fins.
Transmission overloading - Reduce the load.

Drive system is noisy
Wrong oil viscosity - Use the specified type of oil.
Air leaks in hydraulic system - Bleed air from system.
Hydraulic motor or drive pump failure - Change or repair faulty component.

Hydraulics Troubleshooting

Hydraulic system overheating
Hydraulic pressure is incorrect - Adjust pressure correctly.
Main relief valve is faulty or misadjusted - Adjust or change relief valve.
Dirty hydraulic oil - Fill up with fresh hydraulic oil.
Hydraulic fluid level is insufficient - Add fluid to the hydraulic system.

Boom does not raise or lower

Bucket or lift arm runs slowly
Faulty hydraulic oil pump - Test pump flow rate and replace pump if required.
Oil leaks from hydraulic cylinder - Replace cylinder piston seals.
Hydraulic fluid is insufficient - Add fluid as required.
Damaged or incorrect adjusted hydraulic control valve - Adjust correctly or repair.
Low hydraulic pressure - Correct adjustment is required.

Bucket or boom is jerky
Hydraulic system is leaking air - Bleed hydraulic system.
Hydraulic oil filter clogging - Clean or change the filter.
Hydraulic fluid is dirty - Change hydraulic fluid.
Cylinder rod or tube is scuffed - Change defective component.

Hydraulic pump is noisy
Hydraulic leakage or low oil level - Refill hydraulic oil or repair leaks in system.
Clogged hydraulic filter - Clean or change the filter.
Suction line clogging - Need to clean the suction line.
Air enters the pump - Bleed air.
Pump parts are worn out - Rebuild or install new pump.

Electrical Troubleshooting

Battery does not charge
Corroded or loose wire connections - Service or tighten connections.
Battery terminal connectors are faulty - Terminal connectors need to be changed.
Battery dead cell - Replace the battery.
Defective or loose belt - Need to adjust belt tension or replace belt.

Starter turning slow
Low battery voltage - Low battery charging, charge as required.
Battery discharges quickly - Service battery or change it.
Terminals are faulty or battery cables are disconnected - Connect cables correctly or replace terminals.

Starter will not crank
Battery is discharged or defective - Battery needs to be recharged or replaced.
Battery cables are disconnected or improperly connected - Inspect cables and connect properly.
Low battery capacity - Low battery charging, charge as required.
Starter motor failure - Replace or repair starter.
