Kubota SVL65-2 Troubleshooting

The Kubota SVL65-2 compact track loader is powered by Kubota V2607-CR-TE4 four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with a rated power of 62.5 hp (46.6 kW) at 2600 rpm. The Kubota SVL65-2 is equipped with a two-speed hydro transmission, 12.6" (320 mm) or 15" (380 mm) rubber tracks, triple flange lower track rollers, vertical-lift boom, and self-leveling bucket. The hydraulic system has a pump with fluid flow rate of 17.4 gal/min (66 l/min) or 27.1 gal/min (102.7 l/min). The track loader has a rated operating capacity of 3000 lbs (1360 kg) and tipping load of 6000 lbs (2720 kg). The max lift height is 118.5" (3010 mm) to hinge pin, and breakout force is 4614 lbs (2093 kg).

Engine Troubleshooting

Engine hard to start or won't start
Air trapped in fuel system - Bleed air.
Dirty fuel filter - Replace filter element.
Burnt or defective injection nozzle - Inspect nozzles and replace if necessary.
Water in the fuel system - Change fuel and repair fuel system.
Improper valve clearance - Need to adjust valve clearance.
Fuel injection pump is broken - Install a new pump or rebuild.

Diesel starts but immediately shuts off
Clogged air filter - Replace or clean air filter element.
Fuel filter element is dirty - Change or clean the filter element.
Fuel injection pump is leaking - Repair any leaks.
Damaged or clogged injectors - Replace fuel injectors.
Fuel injection pump damage - Rebuild or install a new injection pump.

Diesel shuts off while driving
Coolant temperature is low - Warm up to required temperature.
Clogged fuel filter - Change filter element.
Air in fuel tank - Bleed fuel tank.
Faulty or dirty injection nozzles - Service or change injection nozzles.
Wrong setting of fuel injection pump timing - Adjust as recommended.

Engine shuts off while idling
Incorrectly adjusted low idle speed - Normalize low idle speed.
Fuel injection pump damage - Replace injection pump or repair it.
Fuel injectors are dirty or defective - Change or clean fuel injectors.
Valve clearance is not correct - Adjustment procedure required.

Diesel engine is losing power
Plugged air filter - Replace or clean air filter element.
Dirty or damaged injection nozzles - Clean or change injection nozzles.
Improper fuel injection pressure - Correct the pressure settings.
The valve clearance is incorrect - Need to adjust valve clearance.
Wrong adjustment of low idle speed - Adjust low idling as recommended.
Dirty fuel hoses or lines - Clean fuel hoses and lines.
Defective cylinder head gasket - Install a new gasket.
Leaking or damaged piston rings - Replace the piston rings as required.

Engine overheating
Low coolant level - Add coolant fluid and inspect the cooling system for leaks.
Engine oil level is insufficient - Fill up the oil to required level.
Radiator fins are clogged or radiator cap is faulty - Change cap or clean radiator.
Loose or damaged fan belt - If necessary, replace the belt.
Engine overload - Load reducing required.

Insufficient oil pressure
Oil level is insufficient - Add oil to the engine crankcase.
Oil filter element clogged - Replace or service engine oil filter.
Incorrect engine oil Use the specified type of engine oil.
Excessive crankshaft bearing oil clearance - Bearings need to be reinstalled.
Oil pump malfunction - Inspect and change as required.

Abnormal engine noise or knocking
Engine oil level low - Check and refill engine oil.
Low coolant temperature - Warm up the engine as required.
Incorrect adjustment of fuel injection pump timing - Adjust as recommended.
Incorrectly set low idle speed - Test and adjust.
Defective fuel injectors - Inspect fuel injectors and change as required.
Misaligned or faulty connecting rod - Need to align or replace the connecting rod.
Pistons are scored or worn - Replace the pistons.

Drive System Troubleshooting

Machine will not move forward or backward
Insufficient hydraulic fluid - Add fluid as required.
Undercarriage tracks are blocked or damaged - Repair or correct blockage.
Input drive shaft is not working properly - Replace drive shaft.
Worn or damaged relief valve - Repair or change.
Suction line or hydraulic filter is plugged - Clean suction line or replace hydraulic filter.
Foot or hand controls are defective - Check and repair as required.
Defective drive pump or motor - Check and repair if required.

Machine won't move straight or moves jerky
Undercarriage tracks are jammed or defective - Remove jamming or repair tracks.
Tracks are improperly tensioned or faulty - Adjust track tension or repair tracks.
Foreign objects, debris, or dirt stuck in track frame - Clean track frame, remove debris and foreign objects.

Low power
Clogged hydraulic oil filter - Check, clean, or replace as required.
Relief valve is opened or defective - Replace or close relief valve.
Transmission parts are damaged or faulty - Check and replace defective components.
Input drive shaft is damaged - Rebuild or change the shaft.
Hydraulic system is leaking air - Need to bleed air.

Overheated drive system
Insufficient hydraulic oil - Need to add oil.
Hydraulic fluid filter is clogged - Replace hydraulic filter.
Relief valve failure - Rebuild or install a new relief valve.
Hydraulic motor or drive pump is worn - Check and repair if required.
Dirty oil cooler - Clean the cooling fins.
Drive system is overloaded - Reduce drive system load.

Drive system is excessively noisy
Incorrect oil viscosity - Use the specified type of oil.
Air leaks in hydraulic system - Need to bleed air.
Defective drive pump or hydraulic motor - Inspect and replace as necessary.
Mechanical components of drive system are worn or damaged - Check drive system and change faulty components.

Hydraulics Troubleshooting

Hydraulic system overheated
Hydraulic pressure is not correct - Correct setting is required.
Main relief valve is defective or unadjusted - Replace or set up the relief valve.
Hydraulic fluid is contaminated - Change hydraulic fluid.
Hydraulic fluid level is low - Need to add fluid.
Hydraulic pump is worn - Change or repair hydraulic pump if required.

Boom fails to lift or drop
Lift controls are defective - Repair or change.
Defective hydraulic pump - Change or repair hydraulic pump if required.
Faulty hydraulic control valve - Install a new valve or repair it.
Hydraulic cylinder is faulty - Repair or replace hydraulic cylinder.
Low hydraulic fluid level - Fill up the hydraulic fluid.

Bucket can't tilt
Bucket controls failure - Inspect and repair if necessary.
Defective hydraulic pump - Change or repair hydraulic pump if required.
Hydraulic control valve is faulty - Repair or replace hydraulic valve.
Defective bucket cylinder - Repair or replace cylinder.
Hydraulic oil is insufficient - Check and refill the hydraulic oil.

Boom or bucket is moving slowly
Hydraulic pump is faulty - Check hydraulic pump flow and replace pump if necessary.
Leaking hydraulic cylinder - Cylinder seals need to be replaced.
Low hydraulic oil level - Fill the system to proper hydraulic oil level.
Hydraulic control valve is faulty or out of adjustment - Adjust correctly or repair.
Hydraulic pressure has dropped - Adjust it correctly.

Bucket or boom is jerky
Hydraulic system is leaking air - Bleed air from hydraulic system.
Hydraulic oil filter is dirty - Change or clean oil filter.
Hydraulic oil is contaminated - Change hydraulic oil.
Cylinder rod or tube is scuffed - Replace defective component.

Excessive hydraulic pump noise
Hydraulic system leaking or not enough oil - Add hydraulic oil or correct system leaks.
Dirty hydraulic filter - Change or clean oil filter.
Dirty suction line - Need to clean the suction line.
Pump sucks air - Remove air from hydraulics.
Pump parts are faulty - Rebuild or install new pump.

Electrical Troubleshooting

Battery won’t charge
Loose or corroded electrical wiring connections - Service or tighten cable connections.
Battery terminal clamps are defective - Install new terminal clamps.
Battery failing - Change the battery.
Belt is loose or defective - Install a new belt or adjust belt tension.

Starter cranks slowly
Low battery output - Low battery charging, charge as required.
Battery will not hold charge - Service battery or change it.
Disconnected wires or corroded battery terminals - Check cables and service or change terminals.

Starter will not work
Battery is low or faulty - Battery needs to be recharged or replaced.
Wire harness is disconnected or incorrectly connected - Check wire harness and connect as required.
Low battery output - Recharge the battery.
Starter motor is defective - Change or repair starter.
