Kubota R065 Troubleshooting

The Kubota R065 wheel loader is powered by 158.7 cu.in (2.6L) Kubota V2607-DI-E3 4-stroke 4-cylinder direct injection liquid-cooled diesel engine with a rated power of 47.5 hp (35 kW) at 2400 rpm. The Kubota R065 is equipped with a 2-range hydrostatic transmission, power steering system, wet disc brakes, and 12.5x18 standard tires. The hydraulic system has a pump with fluid flow rate of 14.2 gpm (53.8 lpm). The hydraulic pressure is 2755 psi (190 bar). The wheel loader has a rated operating capacity of 2882 lbs (1310 kg) and tipping load of 5775 lbs (2625 kg). The maximum lift height is 127.2" (3230 mm) to hinge pin, and breakout force is 8140 lbs (3700 kg).

Engine Troubleshooting

Engine starts hard or will not start
Air in fuel system - Bleed fuel system.
Clogged fuel filter - Change filter element.
Fuel injection nozzles are damaged or dirty - Install a new kit of correctly balanced nozzles.
Water or dirt in fuel system - Drain, flush, and service the system.
Improper valve clearance - Need to adjust valve clearance.
Fuel injection pump damage - Replace or repair injection pump.

Engine starts but stalls immediately
Dirty air filter - Clean or change filter.
Fuel filter plugged - Clean or replace the filter.
Fuel injection pump has loose connections - Tighten the connections.
Damaged or clogged injectors - Change or clean fuel injectors.
Fuel injection pump damage - Install a new fuel pump or repair.

Diesel shuts off while driving
Engine is not preheated - Warm up to required temperature.
Fuel filter plugging - Replace filter element.
There is air in the fuel system - Bleed the system.
Clogged or burnt injection nozzle - Test injection nozzles and change if necessary.
Improper fuel injection timing - Adjust as recommended.

Engine stalls at idle
Incorrect low idle speed adjustment - Need to adjust idle speed.
Fuel injection pump is not working correctly - Rebuild or install a new injection pump.
Fuel injectors are dirty or defective - Clean or replace fuel injectors.
The valve clearance is incorrect - Adjustment procedure required.

Diesel engine loses power
Plugged air cleaner - Clean or change.
Fuel injection nozzles are faulty or clogged - Change fuel injection nozzles.
Incorrect fuel injection pressure - Check the fuel injection pressure and adjust if necessary.
Improper valve clearance - Check and adjust as required.
Incorrect low idle speed adjustment - Test and adjust.
Fuel lines or hoses are dirty - Clean fuel system lines and hoses.
Worn cylinder head gasket - Install a new gasket.
Piston rings are leaking or defective - Piston rings replacement required.

Engine overheats
Engine coolant is insufficient - Fill radiator to proper level and check components for faults.
Engine oil level is low - Check and refill engine oil.
Dirty radiator fins or defective radiator cap - Install new cap or clean radiator.
Fan belt is loose or defective - Change the fan belt.
Engine is overloaded - Load reducing required.

Low oil pressure
Not enough oil in the engine - Need to add oil.
Oil filter clogged - Service or replace engine oil filter.
Incorrect oil viscosity - Use correct viscosity oil.
Main bearing oil clearance is excessive - Bearing needs to be changed.
Oil pump is damaged - Install a new pump.

Abnormal engine noise or knocking
Engine oil level low - Check and refill engine oil.
Engine is cold - Warm up the engine.
Wrong setting of fuel injection pump timing - Adjust the pump as required.
Too low idle RPM - Correct low idle adjustment.
Clogged or defective injectors - Change or clean fuel injectors.
Connecting rod misalignment or failure - Need to replace or align the connecting rod.
Pistons are worn or broken - Replace the pistons.

Hydrostatic Transmission Troubleshooting

HST transmission noise
Contaminated transmission fluid or low fluid level - Pour fresh fluid or add transmission fluid to proper level.
Speed control linkage is defective or unadjusted - Adjust or repair linkage.
Relief valve is stuck - Replace the valve.
Excessive transmission load - Reduce loading.
Damaged or worn components of hydrostatic transmission - After disassembly and inspection, replace defective components.

Power is too low
Lack of transmission oil supply - Fill the transmission housing to proper oil level.
Relief valve malfunction - Replace relief valve as required.
Speed control linkage is worn or unadjusted - Change or adjust linkage.

Hot transmission oil
Transmission fluid level is low - Add fluid to the transmission housing.
Clogged transmission oil filter element - Service or change transmission oil filter.
Cooling components are defective or plugged - Inspect all cooling components and replace or clean if necessary.
Transmission overload - Reduce loading.

Transmission fluid leaking
Damaged seals or gaskets - Replace worn gaskets or seal.
High internal transmission housing pressure - Check hydrostatic transmission components for defect or damage and change if necessary.
Oil drain pipe is plugged - Check pipe and service if necessary.

Hydraulics Troubleshooting

Hydraulic system is overheated
Incorrect hydraulic pressure setting - Correct adjustment is required.
Main relief valve is faulty or misadjusted - Adjust or change relief valve.
Contaminated hydraulic fluid - Fill up with fresh hydraulic fluid.
Hydraulic oil level is low - Fill up the hydraulic oil.
Defective hydraulic pump - Repair or install new hydraulic pump.

Boom won't lower or raise
Lift controls are faulty - Check and repair as required.
Defective hydraulic pump - Change or repair hydraulic pump if required.
Defective hydraulic control valve - Repair or replace the valve.
Hydraulic cylinder not working - Repair or install a new lift cylinder.
Hydraulic fluid is insufficient - Checking hydraulic fluid level and add if necessary.

Bucket tilt does not work
Damaged bucket controls - Inspect and repair if necessary.
Defective hydraulic pump - Change or repair hydraulic pump if required.
Hydraulic control valve is defective - Install a new hydraulic valve or repair it.
Defective bucket cylinder - Repair or change cylinder.
Low hydraulic fluid level - Checking hydraulic fluid level and add if necessary.

Boom or bucket is working slowly
Hydraulic pump is faulty - Flow-rate pump and change pump if necessary.
Leaking hydraulic cylinder - Install new cylinder seals.
Hydraulic oil level low - Checking hydraulic oil level and add if necessary.
Hydraulic control valve is not set properly or defective - Repair or adjust properly.
Hydraulic pressure is low - Adjust it correctly.

Lift arm or bucket is jerky
Air trapped in hydraulic system - Bleed hydraulic system.
Dirty hydraulic oil filter element - Clean or replace the filter.
Contaminated hydraulic fluid - Hydraulic fluid change required.
Cylinder rod or tube is scuffed - Replace defective component.

Hydraulic pump makes excessive noise
Lack of oil or hydraulic leakage - Add hydraulic oil or correct system leaks.
Hydraulic filter clogging - Replace or clean the filter.
Suction line is clogged - Clean suction line as required.
Pump sucks air - Air bleeding is required.
Worn pump parts - Replace or rebuild the pump.

Electrical Troubleshooting

Battery will not charge
Electrical cable connections are corroded or loose - Tighten or service connections.
Faulty electrical terminal connectors - Change terminal connectors.
Battery bad cell - Use a new battery.
Damaged or loose belt - Change belt or adjust belt tension.

Starter cranks slow
Battery voltage is low - Recharge the battery.
Battery discharges quickly - Service or change the battery.
Disconnected wiring or bad battery terminals - Connect wiring correctly or install new terminals.

Starter is not cranking
Battery is discharged or defective - Battery needs to be recharged or replaced.
Battery wiring is disconnected or improperly connected - Inspect wiring and connect as required.
Low battery capacity - Battery is drained, charge it.
Starter motor is damaged - Starter should be changed.
