Bobcat L95 Troubleshooting

The Bobcat L95 compact wheel loader driveline system components: a 146.5 cu.in (2.4L) Bobcat Doosan D24 4-cycle 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with a rated power of 74 hp (55.2 kW), and hydrostatic transmission. The hydraulic system has a pump with a rated capacity of 19.9 gal/min (75.4 l/min). The system relief pressure is 2975 psi (205 bar). The Bobcat L95 is equipped with a power steering system, wet disc brakes and 405/70R20 tires. The wheel loader has a maximum lift height to hinge pin of 129" (3275 mm) and boom breakout force of 10955 lbs (4980 kg). The rated operating capacity is 3675 lbs (1670 kg), and tipping load is 7350 lbs (3340 kg).

Engine Troubleshooting

Engine difficult to start or won't start
Air in the fuel lines - Bleed the fuel lines.
Fuel filter element is clogged - Clean or replace the filter.
Damaged or dirty injection nozzles - Inspect nozzles and replace if necessary.
Water or dirt in fuel system - Drain, flush, and service the system.
Valve out of adjustment - Need to adjust valve clearance.
Fuel injection pump is broken - Change or repair the pump.

Diesel starts but stalls suddenly
Clogged air cleaner - Install new air cleaner element.
Clogged fuel filter - Change filter element.
Fuel injection pump has loose connections - Tighten the connections.
Damaged or clogged injectors - Replace or clean fuel injectors.
Fuel injection pump is defective - Rebuild or install a new injection pump.

Engine stalls during operation
Engine not warmed up - Warm up to required temperature.
Fuel filter is plugged - Change filter element.
Air in fuel system - Bleed fuel system.
Dirty or damaged injection nozzles - Test injection nozzles and change if necessary.
Wrong setting of fuel injection pump timing - Set it up as required.

Engine stops at idle
Low idle speed set incorrectly - Adjust low idling as recommended.
Fuel injection pump is not working correctly - Replace injection pump or repair it.
Clogged or defective injectors - Inspect fuel injectors and change as required.
Valve clearance is out of adjustment - Check and adjust as required.

Diesel engine loses power
Air filter is plugged - Clean or change filter.
Fuel injection nozzles are damaged - Test injection nozzles and change if necessary.
Fuel injection pressure is wrong - Adjust to correct pressure.
The valve clearance is incorrect - Adjust valve clearance.
Low idle speed set incorrectly - Adjust as required.
Fuel lines or hoses clogging - Clean fuel system hoses and lines.
Worn cylinder head gasket - Install new cylinder head gasket.
Worn or broken piston rings - Install new piston rings.

Engine overheats
Engine coolant is insufficient - Fill the cooling system and check components for leaks or other faults.
Engine oil level is insufficient - Checking oil level and add if necessary.
Clogged radiator core or leaking radiator cap - Clean radiator or replace cap.
Fan belt is broken or worn - Replace the fan belt.
Diesel engine is overloaded - Reduce engine load.

Oil pressure is low
Oil level is insufficient - Fill the crankcase with oil.
Engine oil filter is plugged - Change or clean engine oil filter element.
Incorrect engine oil Use correct viscosity oil.
Crankshaft bearing oil clearance is excessive - Install new bearings.
Worn oil pump - Inspect and change as required.

Engine knocking or noise
Engine oil insufficient - Fill up the engine oil.
Engine is not fully warmed up - Warm up engine as required.
Fuel injection pump timing is not adjusted - Set up as recommended.
Incorrectly adjusted low idle speed - Adjust the low idle speed.
Clogged or defective injectors - Replace or clean fuel injectors.
Faulty or misaligned connecting rod - Align or change connecting rod.
Worn or broken pistons - Replace the pistons.

Hydrostatic Transmission Troubleshooting

Hydrostatic transmission noise
Low transmission oil level or contaminated oil - Add oil to proper level or pour fresh transmission oil.
Defective or not adjusted speed control pedal linkage - Replace or adjust linkage.
Relief valve malfunction - Change relief valve.
Transmission overload - Load needs to be reduced.
Defective or worn transmission parts - Check internal transmission parts for damage or wear and replace if required.

Lack of power
Transmission oil insufficient - Check transmission oil level and add oil as required.
Relief valve failure - Replace relief valve.
Worn or unadjusted speed control linkage - Adjust or replace linkage.

Transmission oil overheated
Insufficient transmission oil - Fill up the transmission oil.
Transmission fluid filter element clogging - Replace or service transmission fluid filter.
Damaged or clogged cooling components - Check all cooling components and change or repair if required.
Excessive transmission load - Reduce the load is required.

Transmission oil leaks
Damaged seals or gaskets - Replace worn gaskets or seal.
High internal transmission case pressure - Change defective parts.
Clogged oil drain line - Clean or replace drain line.

Hydraulics Troubleshooting

Hydraulic system has overheating
Hydraulic pressure is incorrect - Hydraulic pressure must be set correctly.
Misadjusted or defective main relief valve - Adjust the valve or replace if necessary.
Dirty hydraulic fluid - The fluid must be changed.
Hydraulic oil level is insufficient - Add oil to the hydraulic system.
Worn hydraulic oil pump - Change or repair hydraulic pump if required.

Lift arm fails to drop or lift
Lift controls failure - Repair or change.
Hydraulic pump failure - Repair or replace pump if necessary.
Hydraulic control valve is faulty - Repair or change the valve.
Hydraulic cylinder is broken - Install a new boom cylinder or repair it.
Hydraulic fluid is insufficient - Fill the system to proper hydraulic fluid level.

Bucket tilt does not work
Bucket tilt controls are damaged - Repair or replace.
Defective hydraulic pump - Install new pump or repair it.
Hydraulic control valve malfunction - Install a new valve or repair it.
Hydraulic bucket cylinder is broken - Repair or change cylinder.
Low hydraulic oil level - Check and refill the hydraulic oil.

Bucket or lift arm is moving slowly
Faulty hydraulic oil pump - Flow-rate pump and change pump if necessary.
Hydraulic cylinder oil leakage - Replace cylinder piston seals.
Insufficient hydraulic fluid - Checking hydraulic fluid level and add if necessary.
Hydraulic control valve is not set properly or defective - Set properly or repair.
Hydraulic pressure has dropped - Set pressure correctly.

Bucket or boom is jerky
There is air in the hydraulic system - Bleed hydraulic system.
Hydraulic oil filter element is dirty - Clean or install new filter.
Hydraulic oil is contaminated - Hydraulic oil change required.
Cylinder rod or tube is scuffed - Change defective component.

Hydraulic pump is noisy
Hydraulic leakage or low oil level - Remedy hydraulic leakage or refill oil as necessary.
Hydraulic filter is dirty - Service or replace hydraulic filter.
Clogged suction line - Need to service the suction line.
Pump sucks air - Bleed air.
Pump components are faulty - Rebuild or change hydraulic pump.

Electrical Troubleshooting

Battery does not charge
Corroded or loose wire connections - Tighten or clean connections.
Electrical terminal connectors are defective - Terminal connectors need to be changed.
Bad cell in battery - Install a new battery.
Defective or loose belt - Need to adjust belt tension or replace belt.

Starter motor cranks slow
Battery voltage is low - Battery is drained, recharge it.
Battery discharges quickly - Service charging system or install new battery.
Battery cables are disconnected or terminals are faulty - Connect wires properly or change terminals.

Starter is not working
Battery is low or faulty - Charge or replace the battery.
Wiring is incorrectly connected or disconnected - Inspect wiring and connect correctly.
Low battery capacity - Recharge the battery.
Starter motor is defective - Repair or install a new starter.
